Stronger Than The Fight, Juju Strong

❤️💛 JUJU STRONG — HER FIGHT IS FAR FROM OVER 💛❤️

We wanted to share a little more about Julianna’s condition and the incredible battle she is facing, so everyone understands just how much this young woman has already endured.

Julianna was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. Her tumor had progressed throughout her entire left pelvis and into her sacrum and L5 vertebra. Chemotherapy was not stopping the progression, and the surgery that could give her a chance at life required an unimaginable sacrifice.

In August, Julianna underwent two extremely extensive surgeries at MD Anderson in Houston—one lasting approximately 12 hours and the second nearly 24 hours.

To remove the cancer, surgeons had to remove her entire left leg, left pelvis, sacrum and L5 vertebra. Because portions of the bone in her lower leg were cancer-free, surgeons were remarkably able to use some of that bone to help reconstruct areas of her body that had been removed.

And through all of that came an incredible blessing: her father reported that no metastasis was found. 🙏

Before surgery, Julianna knew exactly what she was facing. This was a young woman who had played soccer since she was six years old, had two Division I offers, and dreamed of allowing the sport she loved to help carry her into college.

But when faced with choosing between her leg and the chance to live, Julianna said:

“I’d rather live without my leg than not at all.”

Now she is facing another enormous fight—healing from two incredibly invasive surgeries, recovering from the reconstruction of her pelvis, and learning an entirely new way of life without her left leg.

Cancer may have changed the future Julianna once pictured, but it has not taken away her plans, her determination, or her faith. She still hopes to attend college and pursue a career in medicine.
